Petty Officer Allen Borkowski visited his brother, Raymond Borkowski from Sunday to Tuesday. He has been transferred from the USS Blank at San Diego, California, to the USS Manley at Charleston, South Carolina. He is a brother of Raymond Borkowski, who served in the Korean War.

MONCURE - Allen Dennis Borkowski, 59, of 105 Pine St., died Friday, May 14, 2004, in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Durham.

Mr. Borkowski was in the Navy, where he received two Bronze Stars and the Vietnam Service Medal.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. George Walton. Arrangements are being handled by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home of Sanford.
Burial will be at Our Saviors Lutheran Cemetery, Kiester, Minnesota.

Mr. Borkowski is survived by his wife, Eunice L. Borkowski of the home; two sons, Shannon Borkowski of Olivia and Gaston Wilson of Charlotte; four brothers, Russell Borkowski, Merle Borkowski, Raymond Borkowski, and Vern Borkowski, all of Iowa; and a grandchild.

The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.

MONCURE - Allen D. Borkowski, 59, of 105 Pine St., died Friday (5/14/04) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Durham.

Borkowski was a native of Johnson County, Iowa, and son of the late Roy Borkowski and Julia (Friedrichsen) Borkowski, was born December 7, 1943. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he received two Bronze Stars, National Defense Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.

A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. George Walton officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall following the service.

Borkowski was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Fister. Survivors are: wife, Eunice Borkowski, at home; sons, Shannon Borkowski and wife Holly, of Olivia, and Gaston Wilson of Charlotte; brothers, Russell Borkowski, Merle Borkowski, Raymond Borkowski and Vern Borkowski, all of Iowa; and one grandchild.
