Some songs from 1948

While these tributes I create to honor the individual who passed away is the main goal, and the pictures and information are generally about the person/family, so often the collections from those families I scan have lots of pictures of non-family Manningites and this Valentine collection is no exception.
Roland sent me an amazing pictorial history of Manning and its citizens to scan in 2020-21, so please note the various other folks who are featured in this tribute who will give you an idea of how many other people/families interacted with the Valentine family and who were part of Manning's amazing history.

I want to thank Roland & the Valentine family for taking the time to share with me and now you, their wonderful collection of Manning history to scan.
I hope this will encourage more families to work with me on their history to add to the Manning Historical Database.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave, Just letting you know, so you can pass it on (if there are still any members of the great class of 1948 around), that my sister, Patty Jane (Johnston) Valentine passed away this morning, March 11, 2024, at her home in Camp Verde, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her son Jeffery and husband Howard, and survived by sons Gregory, Richard, Steven, and Timothy, and her brother Roland, MHS 54.

Patty & Roland Valentine

Patty Jane (Johnston) Valentine passed away on the morning of March 11, 2024, at her home in Camp Verde, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her son Jeffery and husband Howard and is survived by sons Gregory, Richard, Steven, Timothy, and her brother Roland, who is a MHS 1954 graduate.

She was born Patty Jane Valentine, November 9, 1930, the daughter of Anna Lucille "Pat" Patrick and Freeland B. "Bake" Valentine, the proprietors of Valentine's Bakery; serving Manning for 50 years.

Patty graduated with the MHS class of 1948. After graduation she entered nurse's training at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, and graduated a Registered Nurse. While in training she met her husband, Howard H. Johnston of Turin Iowa, a medical student at the University. After graduation Dr. Johnston was accepted into the U.S. Air Force Resident Program. After completing training in San Antonio, Texas, they moved to Clovis, New Mexico, where he served as an Air Force Flight Surgeon.
Patty also lived in Miami, Arizona, where Howard was employed as a doctor for a mining company, from there to Phoenix where he entered first into a medical partnership (and she as an office nurse/doctor's assistant) and then into private practice and on staff at St. Luke’s hospital for about 50 years.
Upon retirement, they moved to a Pecan Ranch in Camp Verde, Arizona.
