Mr. and Mrs. Hans and Anna (Kruse) Kuhl
Mr. and Mrs. Hans Kuhl, great-grandparents of Harry Jansen, were born in 1820 and 1821; they passed away at the ages of 94 and 96. They are pictured at the Harry Jansen farm place in front of an old, one-room house. The farm is located two miles west and 3/4 miles north of Manning.

Henry Kuhl, son of Hans Kuhl and grandfather of Harry Jansen, purchased the farm in March, 1891, from George and Sarah Nickle. The Kuhl children were Adolph, Rudolph, Gustuv, Charlie and Anna (Mrs. Henry Jansen). Charlie Kuhl later owned the farm.
In addition to Harry, Henry and Anna Jansen were the parents of Mrs. Emma Steffes, Iowa Falls, Hilda (Mrs. Averill Vinke), Westside, Augusta (Mrs. Roy Georgius), deceased, and Alvin Jansen, Aspinwall. Harry and his wife Irene Ranniger have owned the farm since Charlie Kuhl's death in 1960.
Harry and Irene Jansen have five children: Dr. Dale Jansen of Des Moines, Randall of Eugene Oregon, Curt of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Marilyn (Mrs. Dean Stauffer) of Portland, Oregon and Mark of Manning.

Henry and Anna (Kuhl) Jansen
Henry Jansen, son of Ferdinand and Emma (Wiese) Jansen, was born June 9, 1883, in Clinton County. He married Anna Kuhl, daughter of Henry and Dorothea (Schroeder) Kuhl, February 20, 1907, in Iowa Township, with Douglas Rogers officiating. Anna Kuhl was born May 15, 1884, in Crawford County.
They farmed in Audubon County for two years and then on farms in Iowa Township. In 1935, they moved to an acreage on the southwest edge of Aspinwall. In 1953, they moved to Aspinwall, where in 1957 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Henry and Anna were the parents of five children. Emma Steffen (deceased), Harry Jansen of rural Manning, Augusta Georgius (deceased), Hilda Vinke of rural Westside, and Alvin Jansen of Aspinwall. They had 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
Henry passed away January 30, 1967, and Anna passed away November 12, 1969. They both are buried at Iowa Township Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jansen
HARRY JANSEN FAMILY
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jansen were both born and raised in the vicinity of Aspinwall. They are living on a farm one mile east and 3/4 mile north of Aspinwall. This will soon be a century farm. The farm was originally owned by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kuhl, Harry's grandparents, later by his uncle, Charlie Kuhl, and since 1961 by Mr. and Mrs. Jansen.
Mrs. Jansen was the former Irene Ranniger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Ranniger. Their children are Dr. Dale Jansen of Des Moines; Randall Jansen of Eugene, Oregon; Curt Jansen of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Marilyn (Mrs. Dean Stauffer) of Denver, Colorado; and Mark Jansen of Raton, New Mexico. Harry and Irene have three grandsons, Scott and Matthew, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Randall Jansen, and Seth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Curt Jansen.
