I have very few pictures of Judy's ancestral background since they are not from the Manning area, but I will show some Bunz ancestry and of course her children.


Judith Ann Bunz

Judith "Judy" Ann Kreft Bunz passed away at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa, on March 24, 2024. She was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on March 15, 1939, and lived in Lytton, Iowa, until her marriage to Claus Heinrich Bunz in 1961. Her funeral service will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale, Iowa, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, proceeding with a one-hour visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. A luncheon will follow the funeral. The burial will be held at the Manning, Iowa, municipal cemetery at 3:30 p.m. with Pastor Daniel Vogel leading the graveside service. "Abide with me" was sung a cappella by those in attendance. A luncheon followed at the Zion Lutheran fellowship hall.

Following high school, Judy studied at Wartburg College where she received a certificate in Medical Technology and completed her training at Mercy Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Judy practiced as a medical technologist at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa and at Denison Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa. She married Claus Heinrich Bunz, on October 7th, 1961. She and Claus lived in Denison, Iowa, from 1961 -1964 and Manning, Iowa, from 1964 until 2005. During this time, Judy was involved with her church, at Zion Lutheran and taught Sunday School for many years. She was involved with the Manning Community Foundation and volunteered at the Plaza. In 2005, Judy and Claus moved to Clive, Iowa, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. During this time Judy volunteered at Methodist West Hospital, and United Way - reading to children.

Judy is survived by her husband Claus, her children, Sara Louise Pulse, John Heinrich Bunz, and Anne Marie Sheeley; son-in-law Jeffrey Howard Pulse and Matthew Stuart Sheeley; grandchildren Nathaniel David Pulse, Astrid Christian Pulse, Mikal Soo Roberta Pulse, Ellen Elizabeth Bunz, Emma Caroline Bunz, Maille Christine Sheeley, and William Stuart Heinrich Sheeley; and her brother-in-law Edward Atkins.

Judy was preceded in death by her father Frank Kreft, her mother Roberta Louise (Ringgenberg) Kreft, sister, Sara Jane Kreft Atkins, her grandson, Samuel Heinrich Bunz, her sister-in-law Elke Duarte Bunz, and nephew Bryce Duarte.

Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church (Sunday School) at Manning, Iowa, and the Manning Community Foundation.
