Samuel Cameron Garmire, 17079165, trained with the 301 Materiel Squadron, 330 Service Group in San Francisco, California. He was born in 1914 in Gray, Iowa and prior to WWII he worked in the parts department for Puck Implement Company. He served with the Army Air Corps on Saipan after it was captured. His unit serviced and repaired the bombers that attacked Japan. Sam was in charge of the spare parts operation, working long hours, in oppressive heat, keeping the bombers in good flying condition. Sam was honorably discharged as a Technical Sergeant.
