Below (picture taken in May) is another area where soil was hauled out of a water way on a different farm.
This waterway was cleaned out in the late 80s and has since filled back in with soil from tilled land above.
The next picture shows the dirt work done on July 23, 200l.

We hauled the sod layer (that was plowed up and put in piles last winter) with 2 dumptrucks.


July 29 --- Using the soil scraper to clean out the rest of the soil that has filled in this waterway.

The picture below shows where we hauled the soil. Terraces help to slow erosion and water but the soil structure below the terrace where the majority of soil was taken from to build it is ruined. Even though the topsoil is pushed back before the subsoil is pushed up into terraces by the caterpillar, the topsoil pushed back over this disturbed subsoil yields much less than it use to.
