Milford Louis, son of Louie Frederick and Elsa Marie (Boyens) Wiese, was born March 24, 1923, at home in rural Botna, Shelby County, Iowa. He attended Botna country school through the eighth grade, then worked out as a farm hand.

From January 1943, Milford served in the United States Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged as Sergeant in December 1945. On June 4, 1948, Milford was united in marriage with Norma Maloy at Manning, Iowa. Their ceremony took place at a very special flower show held at the Fireman's Hall. They made their home in Manning and three children were born to this union. Milford was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved to watch football and simply spend time with his buddies at Cliff's Place.

Milford worked at Petersen's Garage as a mechanic, then had his own Standard gas and service station in Carroll from 1951-55. The family moved back to Manning and Milford worked for the Manning Creamery through 1974. He worked for Union Gas and retired as a manager in 1988. After Norma's death in 1999, Milford worked part-time as a courier for Manning Regional Healthcare Center. He was working up until two days before his death there on July 17, 2005, at the age of 82 years, 3 months, and 23 days.

Preceding him in death are his parents; wife Norma; and siblings Marcella Johnson and Dewey Wiese.

Milford is survived by three children: Carolyn and husband Robert Miller of Carroll; Kent Wiese and wife Amy of Des Moines; and Kyle Wiese and wife Lisa of Indianola; eight grandchildren: Alissa Miller, Brian and wife Alyssa Miller, Crista Miller, Mitch Wiese, Christopher Wiese, Emily Wiese, Jake Wiese and Abby Wiese; sister Donna Hargens of Manning; sisters-in-law Jerry Wiese of Manilla; Laura and husband Roland Derner of Manilla; Opal Holdsworth of Denison; brother-in-law Elwyn Maloy and wife Carol of Sheridan, Wyoming; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

THE TWENTY-THIRD PSALM
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still water. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me: Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anoitest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
