Roy Soll Roy Frank, son of William and Dora (Boyens) Soll, was born August 9, 1926, at Aspinwall, Iowa. Roy grew up near Aspinwall and attended country school, completing the eighth grade. He then farmed with his father and began trucking with Ramsey Transfer. He eventually started his own trucking business, Roy Soll Trucking. Roy also served in the U.S. Marine Corps for a short time at the end of World War II

On June 4, 1948, Roy was united in marriage with Ruth Evelyn Starner at her parents' home in Shelby. Two sons were born to this union. The couple made their home in Aspinwall. After working for Phillips Petroleum, an LP gas and appliance dealer, Roy began doing plumbing and electrical work on his own in 1969. Roy operated out of Aspinwall and the business was named Soll's Service. Roy's son, Jim, joined him in the business in 1985 and shortly thereafter in 1986, they were joined by Roy's grandson Ron. Roy retired in 1988, and in 1993, Jim and Ron moved the operation to their present location in Manning. After celebrating their golden wedding anniversary in 1998, Roy and Ruth built a home and moved into Manning. Ruth died December 12, 2009.

During the summer of 2011, Roy's health declined and he became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home in Manning, where he died Tuesday, October 4, 2011. He was 85 years of age.

Roy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the American Legion. Throughout the years, Roy enjoyed keeping busy, listening to country and western music, fishing, and working in his shop and on the Legion building.
