CLIFFORD (PAT) SPACK
1915 - 1990

Clifford (Pat) Spack entered the Army January 7, 1942, and was discharged July 26, 1945. He spent his time overseas in Algiers, French Morocco, Tunisia, Naples, Foggia, Rome, Arno, the Northern Apennines, and the Po Valley.

He received the following decorations and citations: Bronze Arrowhead, Good Conduct Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Silver Battle Star and with one Bronze Battle Star, six Overseas Service Bars, and the Combat Infantryman's Badge.
He was a light tank crewman.


Funeral services for Clifford (Pat) Spack were held January 20, 1990 at 2:00 p.m. in the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Reverend Robert Riggert officiated with Fern Jensen as organist.
Interment was held in Crawford Heights Memorial Garden in Denison with Abe Gronau, Benjamin Meyer, Ronald Jochimsen, Charles Meyer, Mark Spack and Clark Meyer as casketbearers.

Military honors were conducted by American Legion Post No 132 of Manilla and V.F.W. Post No. 3517 of Manning.

Clifford G. Spack was born January 6,1915 near Manilla, Iowa, the son of Michael and Emily Dieber Spack. He died January 26, 1990 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in benison at the age of 75 years.
Clifford grew up on a farm near Buck Grove, Iowa and attended rural schools. January 6, 1946 Clifford and Shirley Meyer were united in marriage at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison by Reverend Carl Schmidt. This union was blessed with two children. In 1948 they moved to Aspinwall where they owned and operated Pat's Place and also continued to farm for several years. Clifford suffered a stroke in 1987 and entered the Manning Plaza in 1988.

He served his country during World War II.

He enjoyed all sports which included fishing.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Elmer and Victor. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two children: Carol and her husband, Dallas Lile, of Manilla, and Rick Spack and his wife, Kim, of Aspinwall; five grandchildren: Michelle, Tony and Trudy Lile, Heather
