Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. A memorial graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Mausoleum.

Zona Gail Norem, 82, passed away November 26, 2010, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Zona was born March 17, 1928, in Manning, Iowa, to Jay and Jessie Duff, and graduated from Manning High School in 1946. She was a longtime resident of Des Moines and moved to Ankeny three years ago. Zona managed a dental office for many years. After her retirement, she taught Literacy at Drake University to underprivileged students. She was a member of the Helping Hand Quilting Club and Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Zona enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling.

Zona is survived by her daughter, Darryln Roelke; grandchildren, Holly (Jason) Charrlin and Christian (Amy) Murray; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrell Norem; sister, Rhoda Stoll; and brother, Joseph Ted Capdevielle.
