William F. Zabel

Graveside services for William Zabel, 77, former Manning resident, were held in Manning Saturday afternoon, with the Rev. Arthur Raeside officiating.

Burial was in the Manning Cemetery.

Born in Germany in 1867, Mr. Zabel died suddenly of a heart attack at Tucson, Arizona, last Tuesday, May 15, 1945. His wife preceded him in death four years ago.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George Strehlow of Long Pine, Nebraska, and Mrs. R.P. Hofman of Tucson, also one sister.

Mr. Zabel conducted a store at Kirkman before coming to Manning where he was claim agent for the Union Pacific Railway. Later the family moved to Omaha where he continued the same work until his retirement.

He is an uncle of Alfred Paulsen, Ted Paulsen and Mrs. Francis J. McMahon of Manning. Mr. Zabel always retained his membership in the Manning Masonic lodge and was a member at the time of his death. He belonged to the Elks lodge in Omaha.
