Death of William Wunder.

William Wunder died at the home of his nephew eight miles northwest of Manning last Friday morning, May 14, after a short illness. He is the father-in-law of Henry Hoffmann, Sr., and George Tank and has resided in Manning a great deal of the time for several years past. He was a good, quiet old man and leaves many good friends behind.

He was born April 25, 1836 in Neuhaus, Adelichem, Gute Salzen, Holstein, Germany, and came to America in 1862 and located in Scott County, Iowa. He was married in 1870 to Miss Mary Peters, who died in 1881. He and his family came to Westside in 1875 and moved on a farm five miles north of that town. He quit farming about twenty years ago and lived most of the time since with relatives in and about Manning.

The funeral was held at the home of his nephew, William Wunder, Sunday, May 16, Rev. Faust, of Westside officiating, after which the remains were interred in the Hayes Township Cemetery, followed by a long concourse of relatives and sorrowing friends including the Schuetzen Verein, of which he was an honored member for many years. The surviving relatives to mourn his loss are an only sister, Mrs. John Rathjens, of Walcott, Iowa, and several nephews and nieces and their families,
