William Witt Funeral Will Be Held Sunday
Rites at 2 P.M. in Manning Lutheran Church
Funeral services for William Witt, who died at his farm home north of Manning Thursday afternoon, will be conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Lutheran Church in Manning, of which Mr. Witt was a member. Pastor Johann M. Ansorge will officiate. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery, with six nephews serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Witt, who was seventy-four years old, was born in Reinsbuettel, Holstein, Germany, March 8, 1865. When a youth of sixteen he came to the United States, locating at Blue Island, Illinois. Later coming to Arcadia, he worked on a farm before living on the present Collison farm south of Arcadia, on which he lived for several years.

In 1907, he bought his farm home north of Manning, on which he lived for the ensuing thirty-two years.

In 1892, Mr. Witt was married to Miss Margaret Martens at Arcadia.

Surviving with his wife are five children: Arnold Witt of Carroll, Deputy County Sheriff, Regilda, Erwin, Herbert, and Edna Witt, all at home, and two grandchildren, Phyllis and Wayne Witt. He leaves two brothers, John Witt of Arcadia, and August Witt, Red Oak, and four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Bruggeman, Laurel, Nebraska; Mrs. Minnie Kracht, Westside; Mrs. Emil Wiese (Mary) and Mrs. Jacob Lage (Emma), Manning.

Mr. Witt, who had not been in good health for the last twenty years, suffered a stroke which resulted in his death, May 18, 1939. He was stricken about a week before he passed away, but appeared to be recovering until the Wednesday night preceding his death, when he suffered a relapse.
