WILLIAM W. WIESE
William Walter Wiese, 78, of Manning, died Tuesday night, February 11, at University Hospitals, Iowa City.

Mr. Wiese had been in failing health for two months. He entered Manning General Hospital January 3, and transferred to University Hospitals January 20.

Rites were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning. The Rev. Donald Griffin, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiated. Mrs. Bonita Hagedorn was organist and Mrs. James Miller was soloist. Interment was in the Manning Cemetery. Pall bearers were nephews: Lester Genzen, Art Grau, Kenneth Ewoldt, Raymond Grimm, Milford Wiese and Vernus Wiese.

Mr. Wiese, son of Fred and Matilda Goettsch Wiese, was born near Manning September 12, 1896. He attended rural school and worked as a farm hand. On September 25, 1918, he married Ida Marie Grimm. They farmed southeast of Manning until moving into Manning in 1938. Mr. Wiese worked as a tractor mechanic until a year ago. His wife died August 19, 1974.

Surviving are a son, Rockley, of Malvern; a daughter, Mrs. Lester (Eunice) Meggers of Manilla; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Henry Wiese of Audubon and Louis Wiese of Manilla.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
