William Timmerman

Manning - William Timmerman, 83, of Avoca, formerly of Manning, died in Avoca Sunday afternoon (July 28, 1946). Funeral services were held at the Ohde funeral home in Manning at 2pm Wednesday afternoon, with the Rev. E. E. Zimmerman of Carroll in charge. C. M. Johnson was soloist and Mrs. Henry Hagedorn, organist.

Burial was in the Manning cemetery.
Pallbearers were O. E. Pratt, Charles Ramsey, Henry Ohrt, Harry Hinz, John J. Struve and Emil Wiese.

William Timmerman was born July 5, 1863 in Dukerswiesch, Holstein, Germany. He was a butcher for six years in Hamburg, Germany, before he came to America in 1888.
After working three months in Omaha, he moved to Persia, Iowa, where he lived until 1906, when he came to Manning. He and his son operated the meat market here until about ten years ago.

He was married to Dora Blocker at Council Bluffs, Nov. 5, 1888. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Nov. 5, 1938. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Timmerman married again recently and moved to Avoca.

He is survived by his second wife, two sons, Henry and Fred, both of Manning, and five grandchildren. A son (Charles) and a daughter (Gertrude) preceded him in death.


William Timmerman is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
