Services for William E. Summerville, retired farmer and stock breeder, were Monday at the First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Summerville died Thursday at home.
He was a 20-year member of the Gray Consolidated School Board and a 50-year member of the Iowa Shorthorn Breeders Association.
His wife, a son and two daughters survive.

Services for William Edward Summerville, 78, who died April 7, 1966, at his
home in Manning, will be held in the Presbyterian Church here at 11 a.m.
Monday. The Rev. Carl G. Sinning will officiate and burial will be in the
Manning Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Ohde Funeral Home, where friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday.
Mr. Summerville, son of Robert and Mary (Jenkins) Summerville, was born May 25, 1887, at Shelby. He lived in Harrison County for six years and then southeast of Manning for 20 years. Following his high school education he attended college at Tama and Ames. On March 13, 1912, he was married to Isabelle Shaw at her home south of Gray.
The couple farmed between Manning and Gray, and in November, 1958, retired and moved into Manning. Mr. Summerville was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Manning. He served on the board of the Gray Consolidated School for 20 years, part of that time as president. He was a 50-year member of the Shorthorn Breeders Association.
He is survived by his wife; a son, David, of Saratoga, California; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Margaret) Spies, Manning; and Mrs. Darrell (Evelyn) Bales, Manilla; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Emma Carstens, Omaha.
Preceding him in death were an infant daughter, three brothers and two sisters.
