William Schrader, 88, a retired Washington Township resident, died Sunday afternoon, July 17, 1966, at Eventide Home in Denison where he had lived for the last three years.
His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Zion Lutheran Church, Arcadia, with the Rev. Vernon D. Gundermann officiating. Burial will be in the Arcadia Cemetery, under direction of the Ohde Funeral Home of Manning.
Mr. Schrader was born November 12, 1877, in Washington Township, Carroll County, a son of William and Anna Marie (Mench) Schrader. They lived near Westside and he attended rural schools and also Dixon Business College, Dixon, Illinois. On April 12, 1904, he was married to Mary Kay Jentzen, and they lived in Washington Township. His wife died November 29, 1959. He retired in November 1961, and lived for a year and a half with a son, Ray Schrader, near Westside before entering Eventide Home. For many years he served as a school trustee in Washington Township.
He is survived by the following children: Edgar, Jackson, Calif.; Ray and Elmer, West-side; Mrs. Detlef (Loretta) Ehlers, Poplar Grove, Illinois; Arnold, Oakland, California; Clarence, Omaha, Nebraska; Mrs. William (Lillian) Mathiascheck, Keokuk; and Vernon, Elgin, Illinois; also 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Emily Lussman, Arcadia.
Besides his wife, Mr. Schrader was preceded in death by a daughter Elsie, 20, and two sisters.
