About a week before his demise the deceased took sick with the flu which developed into pneumonia. All the tender care that a loving wife and human hands could offer was tendered but in vain. He passed away peacefully, leaving those to whom he was devoted deeply to mourn his departure.
William Ruhde Jr. was born January 8, 1890, in Washington Township, Carroll County, Iowa, and died at his home Friday, January 4th, 1929, aged 33 years within four days. In 1916, September 20th, he was united in marriage to Miss Hulda Ohrt, to which union 5 children were born, who are left to mourn his untimely death besides the grief stricken wife and mother. He also leaves his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm Ruhde of Manning, one brother, Peter, of Los Angeles, California, and four sisters; Bertha, Mrs. H.G. Martens; Emma, Mrs. Henry Karsten; Johanna, Mrs. Louie Hinz, all of Manning, and Rose, Mrs. Byron York of Council Bluffs, Iowa, who were all present at the funeral which took place from the Wilhelm Ruhde home, Monday afternoon, January 7th, at 2:00 p.m.
Services were conducted by the Rev. A.L. Howland, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, and interment was made in the Manning Cemetery. The deepest sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family.

William Ruhde was born near Manning on January 8, 1896, and died at his home in Manning on January 4, 1929.
He grew to manhood in this vicinity. He had been sick about eight days when death claimed him. He leaves to mourn his death his beloved wife and five children; his mother and father of Manning, and four, sisters: Mrs. Henry Martens, Mrs. Henry Karstens, Mrs. Lou Hinz of Manning, and Mrs. Byron York of Council Bluffs; also one brother, Peter Ruhde of Los Angeles, California; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home Monday at 2 p.m.,
Rev. A.L. Howland officiating. Interment was made in the Manning Cemetery.
