Mr. Ploen died early Tuesday morning, June 21, 1966, at Loring Hospital, Sac City, where he had been taken Thursday evening. Mr. Ploen had been a resident of a Sac City nursing home since July 1965.

Born September 7, 1887, in Iowa Township of Crawford County, he farmed until 1940 when he moved to Manning to live with his parents, Joachim and Dorothea (Wiese) Ploen. His mother died in 1946 and his father in 1948, after which time he lived alone in Manning. In February of 1965 he went to a nursing home in Coon Rapids, before moving later that year to Sac City.

He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are his sister, Mrs. Metha Moeller of Manning, and brother, Emil Ploen of Culver City, California, and 14 nieces and nephews.
