Funeral services will be at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, with Pastor Edward F. Heinicke officiating. Interment will be in the Manning Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Ohde Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
A pioneer businessman in the Manning community, he entered the furniture and undertaking business with his brother, George, in 1905. George died in 1929. He continued alone in business until 1951, when he sold the furniture store to C.T. Bennett, and at the same time formed a partnership with his son, William F. Ohde, in the operation of the funeral homes. The present funeral home in Manning was built in 1931.
Mr. Ohde was born September 1, 1885, in Hayes Township. His father, Juergen Ohde, died in 1919; his mother, Anna Everhart in 1925. He attended Manning Schools and the School of Mortuary Science in Des Moines. In 1907 he was married to Francis Brunnier, and they had lived in Manning since then.
He is survived by his wife; son, William F.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his family, preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Anna, Lena, Emma (Mrs. John Schelldorf) and Mary (Mrs. Hans Wilken) and brothers, Henry, Jacob, and George.
