William N. Musfeldt

Funeral services for William Nicholas Musfeldt were held Saturday, January 20, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa. Reverend Richard Burrack of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lincoln Township, Iowa, officiated the service with Margaret Backhaus as vocalist and Fern Jensen as organist. Interment was held in Manning City Cemetery, Manning, Iowa, with Herb Bruhn, Alan Grimm, Harry Campbell, Mark Kerkhoff, Joel Sporrer and David Warren as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Harry Fischer, Curt Grimm, Dean Grimm, Lyle Sporrer, Willis Umland, Ray Thielen, Mel Thielen and Scott Dreier.

William, son of William and Katie (Paulsen) Musfeldt, was born February 21, 1912, in Shelby County, Iowa. Bill was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township, Audubon County. He attended country schools in Lincoln Township.

Bill farmed with his parents for a number of years until they moved to town. He then farmed on his own until he sold his land and retired, moving to Manning in 1983.

Bill had been in failing health this winter and was hospitalized at Manning General Hospital where he died on Wednesday evening, January 17, 1996, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 27 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Arnold, in World War II; a brother, Henry; a sister, Elsie Puck; and a nephew, La Vern Warren.

Survivors include his sisters: Doris and her husband, Lawrence Warren, of Trenton, Missouri, and Ella and her husband, Henry Sonksen, of Carroll; nieces and nephews: Marilyn and Whitey Lohmeier, of Des Moines; Judith Madison, of Detroit, Michigan; and David and Kathie Warren of Dawn, Missouri; and great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bill enjoyed fishing and playing cards, and traveling to Missouri to visit his sister and her family.
