Wilford Moore Rites Held Here Tuesday

Botna and vicinity lost another highly esteemed and beloved citizen in the death of Mr. Wilford Dales Moore which occurred on Saturday, August 17, 1940, at the Wyatt Memorial Hospital at Manning. He had been ill only a very short time following a serious operation. Everything possible was endeavored to save his life but of no avail.

Wilford Dale Moore, the oldest child of Charles and Isabelle Moore, was born one and one-half miles south of Botna on July 30, 1896, and passed away at the age of 44 years and 18 days.

He was united in marriage on October 29, 1921, to Elsie Vandeman of Botna. To this union were born two children, Gale and Joy, both at home. Also surviving are the mother, Mrs. Charles Moore and three sisters: (Nettie) Mrs. Walter Grau of Santa Barbara, California; (Golda) Mrs. Raymond Sander of Manning, and (Sylvia), Mrs. Gordon Lawrence of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The deceased attended the Colfax high school and was a member of the United Brethern Church of Botna.

Wilford was a very pleasant and, friendly man to meet, and will be long remembered by a host of friends.

"Even for the dead I will not bind myself to grief. Death cannot long divide, For it is not as though the rose that climbed my garden wall. Had blossomed at the other side, Death doth hide, but not divide. Thou art with Christ and Christ with me. In him united still are we."

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Ohde Funeral Home, the Rev. Alexander Wimberly, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Manning, officiating. Mr. C.M. Johnson and Mrs. H.W. Hagedorn, furnished the music.

As pall bearers acted Colin Campbell, Thomas Campbell, Robert Campbell, Raymond McConnell, Merlene Thomsen and C.J. McMahon. Interment was made at the Manning cemetery.
