Little Willie Porter Dies.
September 22, 1910 Manning Monitor
Last Saturday evening about eleven o'clock little Wilbur
Porter aged eleven years, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Porter peacefully
passed from this world to that beyond. Last Monday a week ago he took his book
and went to school, later he became sick and was hurried to Omaha, but could
get no relief. He seemed cheerful during his brief illness and the day before
he died he rode the pony about the yard. The funeral was held at the Methodist
church. Rev. Harvey preaching the sermon. Six of his
classmates were the pallbearers and as these little schoolmates filed down the
isle of the church bearing the form of their departed loved one, the scene was
indeed touching. The remains were taken to the Manning Cemetery where the last
funeral rites were held and where he was laid to rest beside his little sister
who had preceded him several years. The bereaved parents have the heartfelt
sympathy of a large number of friends in their hour of trial.
We wish to express our thanks to all those who so kindly
helped us and comforted us during the sickness and death of our beloved son.
Especially comforting were the flowers. May God bless you is our wish.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Lucy (Hebb) Porter.
Note:Wilbur Porter buried in the Manning Cemetery.
