Wilbur Gustof Martens, 93, of Carroll, Iowa, died Monday, October 29, 2007, at Panora Nursing and Rehab Center at Panora.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2007, at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with the Rev. Michael Fitzsimmons officiating.

Burial will be in Manning Cemetery in Manning.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He was a son of Gustof and Grace Kate (Fonken) Martens. As a young boy he attended and graduated from Westside High School in 1934.
Mr. Martens was a lifelong resident of the Carroll area coming here from Manning in 1951.
He worked for the CC camps for three years at Moorhead and Clarinda. He also worked with his father around Westside, doing plastering and general repair work. Mr. Martens worked at the Burke Hotel in Carroll for several years until it closed and then worked at Mac's Casino Restaurant in Carroll before his retirement.
In his spare time, he enjoyed basketball games, reading about local history, and visiting with people. Mr. Martens was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church.

There are no immediate survivors.
Mr. Martens was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers in infancy.
