Services Held For Wayne Vennink
Funeral services for Wayne Vennink of Denison were held Monday, November 20, 1972, at 2 p.m. at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Rev. Robert Arends officiated. Henry Henningsen, soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Fred Rabe, organist, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Heaven Is My Home." Burial was in the Nishnabotna Cemetery northwest of Manilla. Pallbearers were Paul Dozier, Jerome Mordhorst, Herman Neddermeyer, Jr., Larry Robertson, Clayton Rude, and Wilbur Rude.

Mr. Vennink died late Friday night, November 18, 1972, at his home from accidental carbon monoxide poisoning at the age of 37 years, 2 months, and 28 days. Crawford County Sheriff Donald Stehr reported the body of Wayne Vennink was found in the garage at his home where he had been working on the motor of his automobile in a closed garage.

Wayne Wesley Vennink, son of Louis and Selma (Miller) Vennink, was born on a farm near Manilla on August 21, 1935.

He attended Manilla and Manning Schools and graduated from Manning High School in 1954. He was baptized and united with the Presbyterian Church of Manilla.

Mr. Vennink had been employed as maintenance man at Farmland Foods for the past 10 years.

On November 8, 1969, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Barber Carlson of Valley Nebraska, they made their home in Ute until moving to Denison in May of this year.

He is survived by his wife Doris, three sons, Jeffrey Wayne, Jon Allen and James Patrick and one daughter Jodi Lynn; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Vennink of Manning, maternal grandmother Mrs. Minnie Miller of Manilla; five step-children Brenda, Mrs. Curtis Kluver of Denison, Becky, John, Roger, and Richard, all at home; two brothers Allen of Audubon and Marvin of Manilla; four sisters Mildred, Mrs. Russell Spies of Gray, Lois, Mrs. Ronald Frahm, Anna Bell, Mrs. Errol Wegner, and Marilyn, Mrs. Keith Pfannkuch, all of Manning; and many other relatives and friends.
