WALTER RUGE
Walter Ruge, 89, of Manilla, died Monday, May 25, 1992, at the Manilla Manor Nursing Home. He had been suffering from leukemia.

Graveside services were held this afternoon (Tuesday) at the Manning City Cemetery with Pastor Robert Riggert, of the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, officiating.

Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Ruge was born January 7, 1903, in Welmbuttel, Germany, a son of Hans Jacob and Auguste Wilhelmine (Brandt) Ruge. He was baptized on February 8, 1903, by Pastor Reimers in Tellingstedt, Germany.

After he came to the United States, Mr. Ruge lived with his sister, Emma, and her husband, Fred Musfeldt, at Manning.

He worked as a hired man for various farmers in the area. He spent most of his life in Cherokee and the Crawford County Home before becoming a resident of the Manilla Manor Nursing Home in later years.

Mr. Ruge is survived by a brother, Ernest, of Welmbuttel; a sister-in-law, Hazel (Mrs. Willie) Ruge, of Omaha, Nebraska; a niece, Alice Musfeldt Beck, of Clovis, California; a nephew, Don Musfeldt, of Dallas, Texas; and two nieces-in-law, Luella Musfeldt of Aspinwall, Iowa, and Dorothea Musfeldt of Manning.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and the following brothers and sisters: Max, Herman, Rudolph, and Willie Ruge, Emma Musfeldt, Gusta and Marie Ruge.
