Virgine Eleanor, daughter of John and Anna (Pawletzki) Fendrich, was born January 2, 1935, southeast of Manning in Carroll County, Iowa. She attended country school near her home and grade school in Templeton, graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1952. She then worked in various jobs around the Carroll area.

On July 2, 1953, Virgine was united in marriage with Verl Duane Wurr at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton. Five sons were born to this union. The family made their home in Manning. Virgine was a stay at home mother until the boys were in school. She then worked in various capacities for Nelson’s, Wells and Bircliff Manufacturing until her retirement in 1997.

Virgine is a member of Sacred Heart Church in Manning and active with the Alter Society. She enjoyed camping, reading, crocheting and puzzles. She and Verl enjoyed dancing together, particularly the polka.

On Saturday, January 28, 2012, Virgine died at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, Iowa. She was seventy-seven years of age.

Virgine is survived by her husband Verl Wurr of Manning; five sons: Thomas Wurr and wife Teresa “Nook” of Manning; David Wurr of Manning; James Wurr and wife Cindy of Ankeny; Donald Wurr of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Robert Wurr and wife Carrie of Defiance; nine grandchildren; Tonya Jones and husband Ryan; Tara Odendahl and husband Steve; Teresa Wurr; Trista Wurr; Tyler Wurr; Melissa Johnson and husband Wade; Jessica Wurr; Nicole McCann and husband Alan; and James Shughart; four great-grandsons: Ryker Odendahl, Landon and Kellan Jones and Kyler Johnson; a great-granddaughter Priya Odendahl; and by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law Denice Wurr; and two brothers LaVern and Raymond Fendrich in infancy.
