Viola C. Spiegel

DENISON, Iowa - Viola C. Spiegel, 86, of Denison, formerly of Manning, Iowa, died Monday, February 2, 1998, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, with the Rev. Kurt R. Kaiser and the Rev. Daniel G. Gifford officiating. Burial will be in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison.

Mrs. Spiegel was born December 19, 1911, in Manning, the daughter of Albert and Emma (Hass) Stammer. She was baptized in Manning and confirmed in Denison in the Lutheran faith.

She was raised in Manning and attended rural schools. She moved with her family to Denison. She was employed as a waitress.

She married William Spiegel on May 28, 1932, in Blair, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Denison. She was a homemaker. He died July 27, 1991.

Mrs. Spiegel moved to Sioux City and in 1996 entered the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking and babysitting.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Phyllis and Robert Meyer of Sioux City; two granddaughter, Pati and Suzanne Meyer; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, William in infancy; a brother, Reynold Stammer; and a granddaughter, Kathy Meyer.
