Funeral services for Viola Sievers were held Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at 10:30 a.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa. Pastor Virginia Stiles of the United Church of Westside officiated the service with Helen Ohde as vocalist and Connie Siepker as organist. Interment was held in the Westside Cemetery, Westside, Iowa, with Lyle Joens, Orville Hinze, Louie Gehlsen, Ralph Gehlsen, Johnnie Stender, and Verle Massman as casketbearers.
Viola Laura Sievers, daughter of Henry and Mathilda (Hoist) Sievers, was born September 16, 1903, in Westside, Iowa. She was baptized August 17, 1904, and confirmed April 1, 1917, by Reverend Karl Fauth at United Church of Christ in Westside. She attended Westside Public School through the tenth grade.
Viola was a member of the United Church of Westside participating in the Ladies' Guild. She was also a member of Westside Cemetery Association and enjoyed doing all kinds of craft work, crocheting and tending to her flowers.
On July 21, 1997, Viola entered Manning Plaza Nursing Home, where she died on Sunday, May 23, 1999. She reached the age of 95 years, 8 months, and 7 days.
Viola is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Arthur, Edwin, and Ervin Sievers; and two sisters-in-law.
She is survived by one nephew, Marvin H. Sievers, and his wife, Carolyn of Redlands, California, and their daughter, Melissa Sievers, of Corona, California.
