Friends may call from noon to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen Funeral Home, Fountain and Union Boulevards. A rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Sunday at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 1520 East Yampa Street. A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Henry Smith officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Mausoleum, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 3825 Airport Road.
Mrs. Shields was born March 5, 1906, in Westside, Iowa, to Henry and Anna (Anthony) Hagge.
She was married September 25, 1935, in Iowa to Joseph Shields, who died in January.
She is survived by two sons, Joe Jr. of Portland, Oregon, and Tom of Colorado Springs; three daughters, Katharine Wilkerson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Mary Kovac and Joan Jones, both of Colorado Springs; a brother, Melvin Hagge of Dennison, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Shields had attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
She had lived in Iowa, where she was a school teacher and owner of a beauty shop. She moved to Colorado Springs in 1949 and was a member of a local Garden Club, Elks Wives, Germania Club, Polka Club, and a charter member of the Divine Redeemer Catholic Church.
