VIOLA RANNIGER

The Rite of Christian Burial for Viola Francis Ranniger were held Wednesday, March 11, 1992, at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Manning, Iowa. Reverend Father Ralph Reinhart was the celebrant with Sacred Heart Choir providing the music. Lector was J.J. Lally, Mass servers were Alex and Ryan Ranniger, and gift bearers were Tony and Andy Ranniger. Interment was held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Manning, Iowa with Robert Phillips, Russ Ranniger, Robert Kruse, Albert Sturm, Wilbur Hill and Wayne Jahn as casketbearers. Prayer service and Rosary were held Tuesday, March 10, 1992, at 7:30 p.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.

Viola Francis, the second of 12 children born to Edward and Kathrine (Schechinger) Henkelman, was born October 26, 1922, near Defiance, Iowa. She attended Defiance schools, graduating in 1939. After graduation she moved to Chicago and then to California, where she worked in a military defense plant.

In 1945 Viola returned to Iowa and on February 27, 1946, she was united in marriage with Wayne L. Ranniger at Manilla, Iowa. To this union five children were born: Carol Joy, James, Bill, Gaylin, and Royce.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne, of Manning; her children: Carol Joy and her husband, Joe Lally, of Denison; James, at home; Bill Ranniger and his wife, Deb, of Manning; Gaylin Ranniger and his wife, Jan, of Manning; and Royce Ranniger and his wife, Kathy, of Sioux City; 15 grandchildren: J.J., Micha and Meghan Lally; Ryan, Beth, Brandon, Michael, Katie, Ashley, and Amy Jo Ranniger; Alex, Abbey, and Jacob Ranniger; and Tony and Andy Ranniger; her mother-in-law, Christine Tesch, of the Manning Plaza; two brothers, Maurice Henkelman and his wife, Julie, of Manilla, and Morelle Henkelman, of Kansas; three sisters: Sidona Jarvis, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Mildred and her husband, Stan Nissen, of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Patricia Lingle, of Council Bluffs; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Viola Ranniger is buried in the Manning Catholic Cemetery.
