MRS. CHARLES (VIOLA) NISSEN
Mrs. Charles (Viola) Nissen, 76, died Monday, November 8, 1982, at the Manning General Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla with the Rev. Glenn Wiechmann officiating. Mrs. Art Joens was organist and Mrs. Marlene Jahn vocalist. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery. Serving as casketbearers were Roger Nissen, Randy Saunders, Larry Schwartz, Merle Schroeder, Robert Nissen, and Floyd Grage.

The Ohde Funeral Home of Manning was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nissen is survived by her husband, Charles; the following children: Stanley Nissen, Alamogordo, New Mexico; Mrs. Lois Tegels, Fremont, Nebraska; Allen Nissen, Manning, and Ron Nissen, Jefferson; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a brother, Alden Schwartz, Manilla.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Raymond Schwartz.

Mrs. Nissen was born Viola Caroline on May 25, 1906, a daughter of Carl and Hattie (Wenzel) Schwartz, She attended Manilla schools. Before her marriage to Charles Nissen on September 11, 1929, in Manilla, she helped her parents on their farm. After her marriage, she and her husband farmed south of Aspinwall for seven years and then moved to a farm north of Aspinwall where they lived for 35 years before retiring to Manning in 1969.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Guild.
