On April 6, 1932, Verna was united in marriage with Ruvilla Rowedder. Four children, Marjorie, David, Dale, and Danny were born to this union. They farmed near Manning, Halbur, and Carroll, until 1970 when they moved into Carroll. Verna worked in the Housekeeping Department at St. Anthony Hospital from 1971 - 1985 and enjoyed her fellow workers. On April 6, 1982, Verna and Ruvilla observed their Golden Anniversary.
In May of 1993, Verna moved to St. Anthony Nursing Home. She died there on Wednesday, April 10, 1996, at the age of 83 years, 8 months, and 29 days.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David, in 1993; two brothers, Harold Stammer and Leslie Stammer; a sister-in-law, Bernice Stammer; and a son-in-law, Dean Stribe.
Survivors include her husband, Ruvilla Rowedder, Carroll; daughter, Marjorie Stribe of Manning; son, Dale Rowedder, and his wife, Deon, of Carroll; son, Danny Rowedder, and his wife, Carol, of Carroll; eleven grandchildren: Curtis Stribe, and his wife, Caryl, of Manning; Keith Stribe, and his wife, Mary Jane, of Carroll; Scott and Stacey Rowedder, of Colorado; Kevin, Amy, Craig, Angela, and Christopher Rowedder, of Carroll; Susan and Sara Rowedder, of Carroll; six great-grandchildren; Nolan, Sara, and Landon Stribe, of Carroll; Kelsey, Heather, and Kyle Stribe, of Manning; a sister, Gladys, and her husband, Hugo P.G. Jahn, of Manning; a brother, Milo Stammer, and his wife, Delores, of Lake View; sister-in-law, Ella Stammer, of Manning; many other relatives and friends.
Verna was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carroll.
