VALENTINE ROUSH PASSED AWAY
DIED AT HOME OF DAUGHTER IN CALIFORNIA
BURIED IN SIOUX CITY MONDAY
The death of Valentine Roush, a resident of Sioux City, Iowa, since 1919, occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Blanche Dansby, at Beverly Hills, California, last Thursday morning, August 11, 1927.

Mr. Roush left his home in Sioux City about a year ago to go to California in the hope of improved health. Heart disease caused his death.

He was born February 2, 1848, in Ohio. At the age of two years his parents moved to Monroe, Iowa. There he lived until he was 22 years old, then moving to Lewis, Cass County, where he first engaged in the milling business. Later he was interested in several Iowa banks.

Mr. Roush conducted mills at Anita, Fontanelle, Atlantic, Manning (1880-88 built the Manning Roller Mill in 1882), Holstein, and Onawa, in the order named, spending the longest time in Holstein. Here Mr. Roush was one of the leading, active businessmen, and here he formed friendships that lasted throughout life. His visits here were quite frequent, and often he was heard to say that it was just like coming home. After his retirement front business at Onawa he moved to Sioux City. His wife preceded him in death two years ago.

Mr. Roush was a Mason for 54 years, and at the time of his death was a member of Vesper lodge, No. 223, A.F. & A.M. at Onawa.

Surviving are two sons, Jarius Clayton Roush, Onawa, and D. Harlow Roush, Arcadia, California, besides a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Dansby, of Beverly Hills, California.

The remains were sent to Sioux City and there the funeral was held the past Monday afternoon, with burial in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City.

Present from Holstein were R.P. Wheatley and Abe Fulton.
