Ohde Funeral Home of Manilla was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were Dr. Morelle Houlihan, John Lally, Jr., Joe Lally, Floyd Meehan, Donald Lally, and Art Hickey. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Manilla.
Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Thursday, led by the Altar and Rosary Society and Friday evening, led by Rev. Fr. O'Rourke.
Thomas James Rowan was born October 19, 1909, near Vail. He was the son of Patrick Austin and Johanna (Houlihan) Rowan. He attended Hayes No. 2 and Hayes No. 4 country schools near his home and graduated from Westside High School. He graduated from the American Barber College at Omaha, Nebraska.
He was married to Lucille Ellen Lally in 1936.
Tom barbered in Aspinwall, located in the Aspinwall Pool Hall (south end), until the spring of 1939 when they moved to Manilla. He was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad for 28 years, until he was forced to retire in 1970 due to ill health.
He worked part time on his farm northeast of Manilla and died suddenly at the farm on Wednesday afternoon, June 28, 1972.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, three brothers.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille; children, Mary Ellen, Mrs. Joseph Tye of Dayton, Ohio; Dr. Patrick Rowan or Orange Park, Florida; Jane Elizabeth, Mrs. Gerald Mott of Dayton, Ohio; Rita Rowan of Omaha, Nebraska; and Brigid Ann, Mrs. Michael Vance of Iowa City; by eight grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters, Margueritte, Mrs. William Launderville of Vail, Clarence of Wall Lake, Mrs. Anndella Lawler of Wall Lake, Joseph of Wall Lake, Vincent of Wall Lake, Loretta, Mrs. Ed Minnihan of Jefferson, and many other relatives and friends.
Tom was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish of Manilla, Holy Names Men's Society of Manilla, Knights of Columbus, Carroll Council at Carroll and the Manilla Community Club.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Manilla. The Rev. Gabriel O'Rourke officiated. Pallbearers were Dr. Morelle Houlihan, John Lally, Jr., Joe Lally, Floyd Meehan, Donald Lally, and Art Hickey. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Manilla with the Ohde Funeral Home of Manilla in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Mary Ellen) Tye of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Gerald (Jane Elizabeth) Mott of Dayton, Rite Rowan of Omaha and Mrs. Michael (Brigid Ann) Vance of Iowa City; one son, Dr. Patrick Rowan of Orange Park, Florida; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. William (Margueritte) Launderville of Vail, Mrs. Anndella Lawler of Wall Lake and Mrs. Ed (Loretta) Minnihan of Jefferson; and three brothers, Clarence, Joseph and Vincent Rowan, all of Wall Lake.
He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
