Last rites held at Harlan Sunday for
T. McKeever

Tom W McKeever passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clinton Moore near Manning Thursday, Oct 3, at the age of 80 years, eight months and 24 days. His health had been failing for some time and he had, been bed-fast for two months.
Born Jan 9, 1877, on a farm south of Irwin, he was a son of Anthony and Cassie Green McKeever. His mother died when he was three years old and the family later moved to a farm near Perry, where his father died.
At the age of 16, following the death of his father, Tom went to make his home with a cousin, the late Mrs. Scott McConnell near Harlan.
On Aug 30, 1900, he was married to Lucy E. Lamer at Audubon. The couple lived on various farms near Elkhorn and Marne, with the exception of one year spent in Kansas.
In 1922 they moved to Harlan where he was a dynamiter in road construction and ditching for Shelby County for 34 years. He and his wife observed their 56th wedding anniversary Aug 30, 1956.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clinton (Alice) Moore of Manning; Mrs. C. V. (Thelma) Caldwell of San Pablo, Calif; eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy, a daughter, May; one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held from the Pauley Funeral home in Harlan Sunday at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. Lester Moore of the First Methodist church in Manning officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery at Irwin. Pallbearers were Jack Carter, Pete Barnett, Harold Brensel, Julius Wiese, Frank Ingwers and Clifford Pedersen.
