THEODORE CHRISTIAN VOLLSTEDT
Theodore, son of William and Cecelia (Kuhl) Vollstedt, was born May 18, 1900, three miles south of Manning in Ewoldt Township, Carroll County, Iowa. In 1903 he moved with his family to a farm five miles north of Manning. He attended schools near his home and worked on the home farm until 1916 when he started working around the neighborhood. On September 26, 1923, Ted was united in marriage with Alvina Vehrs at Denison. They lived on a farm five miles southwest of Manilla until March of 1927 when they moved to a farm northeast of Manilla. They remained on that farm until retiring and moving into Manning in 1967. In 1970, after three weeks of illness, Alvina died.

Ted continued to make his home in Manning until he entered the Manilla Manor Nursing Home in March of 1989. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla.

Ted died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 10, 1990, at the Manilla Manor Nursing Home at the age of 90 years, 4 months, and 22 days.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; by his son, Lyle in 1986; by four brothers, Bill, Hugo, Raymond, and Virtus Vollstedt; and by a sister, Elsie Vollstedt.

Ted is survived by his daughter-in-law, Vera Vollstedt, of Manilla; by the following grandchildren: Rebecca Vollstedt, of Manilla; Steven Vollstedt and his wife, Carolyn, of Manilla; Ned Vollstedt, of Vicksburg, Mississippi; Donna Vollstedt, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Ronald Vollstedt, of Manilla; Kathleen and her husband, Kurt George, of St. Louis, Missouri; and Tim Vollstedt, of Manilla; by six great-grandchildren: Mandy, Tawnia, Krystal, Kyle, Chad, and Megan; by a sister, Mabel Borkowski, of Carroll; by three sisters-in-law: Edna Vollstedt, Evelyn Vollstedt, and Kathryn Vollstedt, all of Manning; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
