MRS. FRED WENDEL
DIED AT HOLLAND, MICHIGAN
Mrs. Fred Wendel, a former resident of Manning, passed away at her home in Holland, Michigan on June 24, 1936, following an illness of about ten days.
Sophia Dreesen Wendel was born in Schoenberg in the Probstei, in Holstein, Germany. She lost her parents when she was at an early age, and with her brothers and sisters, was assigned to an orphanage and received their education in the public schools in Krummbek. After finishing school they left for America and came direct to Carroll county.
She was married to Fred Wendel and lived in the home now occupied by Mrs. Meta Stamp on Elm street. After living there for a number of years they moved to Manilla. In 1908 they moved to Holland, Michigan where Mr. Wendel passed away in 1922.
Mrs. Wendel was a sister of Mrs. Jacob Kruse of Manning, the only near relative to mourn her passing.
