Mrs. Sophia Rothfolk
Funeral rites for Mrs. Sophia Rothfolk, 81, were held on Sunday afternoon, September 27, 1970, at 2:00 at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning with Pastor E. F. Heinicke officiating. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery under direction of the Ohde Funeral Home with grandsons as pallbearers.
Daughter of August and Mary Hansen Grau, she was born March 14, 1889 in Washington Township, Carroll County, and attended rural schools. She was married to James Rothfolk on February 13, 1913.
They farmed near Austin, Minn. for three years and then moved to the home farm south of Manning. Mr. Rothfolk died Dec. 8, 1952, and Mrs. Rothfolk moved to Manning in 1956.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Emil and John Grau.
She is survived by the following children: Mrs. John (Elda) Barten, Manilla; Mrs. August (Eileen) Mundt; Mrs. Henry (Lorraine) Gruhn; and Norman Rothfolk, Manning; Mrs. William (Delores) Fastje, Jr., Denison; and Mrs. Ed (Mary Ann) Goldsberry, Burbank, California; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Herman Grau; and three sisters, Mrs. Ida Kusel, Mrs. Clara Cox, and Mrs. Elmer Alwill, Manilla.
Mrs. Rothfolk, who had lived in the Manning Plaza since January of this year, died at Manning General Hospital early Friday morning, Sept. 25. She had been hospitalized for three days.
