Sophia Margaret (Ketelsen) Polzin, a prominent Napa, California, resident for many years, died yesterday, June 14, 1959, at the family home, 1418 Calistoga Ave. She was 91.
Mrs. Polzin was born in Quentin, Ohio, April 23, 1868, and received her schooling there. The Ketelsen family moved to Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa, where Sophia's parents, Ketel Heinrich and Christine Maria (Jürgensen) Ketelsen, and sister, Elizabeth Borkowski are buried in the Lincoln Township Cemetery.
Sophia was married to Frederick Carl Polzin in Manning, Iowa, and they moved on to Netawaka, Kansas, in 1902, and then to Twin Falls, Idaho, seven years later. Mrs. Polzin came to Napa in 1920 and has lived here since. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Frederick died October 31, 1925.
Mrs. Polzin is survived by 10 children, Hanna Schultz of Parma, Idaho; Henry A. Polzin at Boise, Idaho; Bertha Pauline Cearley of Chico, California; Ruth M. Dunker of Cordelia, California; and Elsie K.I. Schafer, Arthur H. Polzin, Clara M. Wright, Frederick C. Polzin, Victor E. Polzin, and Irene L. Hosman, all of Napa; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
One sister, Elizabeth (Ketelsen) Borkowski, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow from Treadway and Wigger Garden Chapel, with interment in Tulocay Cemetery, Napa, California
