RAYMOND John SIEPKER

Raymond, son of William and Anna Mattes Siepker, was born February 25, 1929 near Carroll, Iowa. He attended St. Peter and Paul Elementary School and graduated from Carroll High School in 1946. He served in the United States Army from January, 1951 to December, 1952. After his basic training he was stationed in England before his honorable discharge. On September 26, 1953 Ray was united in marriage with Marlene Renze at St. Peter & Paul Church in Carroll by Father Nicholas Ruba. They lived on a farm near Carroll until 1962 when they moved to a farm near Manning. In addition to farming all of his life, Ray also worked at the Denison Hide Company, a division of Iowa Beef Processors, from 1967 to 1986. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3517 and Sacred Heart Parish, both of Manning.

Ray entered St. Joseph Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, on October 6 where his health failed quite rapidly until the time of his death there on Sunday, October 30, 1988 at the age of 59 years, 8 months, and 5 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Lawrence Siepker.

Ray is survived by his wife, Marlene, of Manning; by his children: Mark and his wife, Becky, of Houston, Texas; Jeff and his wife, Connie, of Manning; Joni and her husband, Tim Kienast, of Manning; Renee and her husband, Randy Halbur, of Manilla; and Julie and her husband, Steve Fogleman, of Manning; by 12 grandchildren; by five sisters: Mrs. Leona Louis, of Carroll; Margaret and her husband, A.G. Schrad, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; Eleanor and her husband, Don Smith, of Omaha; Colette and her husband, Maurice Potthoff, of Halbur; and Mary Ann and her husband, Wayne Schlorholtz, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; by three brothers, Albert Siepker and his wife, Jeanette, of Carroll; Leo Siepker, of Carroll; and Bill Siepker and his wife, Connie, of Tuscon, Arizona; by his father-in-law, Fred Renze, of Carroll; by his aunt, Lana Mattes, of Carroll; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
