Mass of Christian Burial was held for Shirley Mae (Meyer) Weis was held Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, Minnesota. Father John A. Richter was the celebrant. Honorary casket bearers were her grandchildren: Tiffany Baughman, Heather Kaslon, Jill Lieder, Nick Lieder, Sarah Weis, Ashley Rogers, Jackson Rogers, and Elizabeth Rogers. Interment was in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm, Minnesota.

Shirley, daughter of Lars and Lillian (Puck) Meyer, was born April 19, 1929 in Springfield. She was a 1946 graduate of Springfield High School and a graduate of the Minnesota School of Business in Mankato. She was united in marriage with John Weis on January 13, 1951 in Redwood Falls. Shirley worked as a social worker for Brown County Family Services for seventeen years until she re-tired. She then worked part time at Thayer Publishing for the past eight years. Shirley enjoyed the theater, crossword puzzles, reading, camping and the outdoors. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Shirley was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, Habitat for Humanity and the New Ulm Human Rights Commission.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Arlene Christianson.

Shirley is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Deborah and David Kaslon of Blair, Nebraska, Penny Lieder of New Ulm. Terri and Gordon Rogers of North Mankato; sons and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Debra (Schroeder) Weis of Peru, Illinois, and Paul Weis of New Ulm; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
