SHIRLEY ANN WEGNER
Shirley, daughter of Hugo R.C. and Emma Marie Elfrieda (Jentzen) Hansen, was born June 29, 1937, near Manning, Iowa. She attended Manning schools and graduated with the Manning High School class of 1955. Shirley was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in October of 1953 and became a member of Zion Lutheran Congregation that year.

On January 10, 1960, Shirley was united in marriage with Robert D. Wegner. To this union seven children were born. In addition to raising her family Shirley was always available to help her husband on the farm. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Rural Mail Carrier's Association Auxiliary, and she served on the Iowa Township Community Chest Committee.

Shirley had been ill with cancer and was hospitalized at Manning General Hospital where she died early Monday morning, December 26, 1994, at the age of 57 years, 5 months, and 27 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Robert, of Manning; her children: Debra and her husband, John Snyder, of Manning; Tommy Wegner, of Manning; David Wegner and his wife, Beth, of Des Moines; Nancy and her husband, Dale Tunender, of Des Moines; Dale Wegner, of Manning; Bruce Wegner, of Des Moines; and Kyle Wegner, of Des Moines; two grandchildren: Lukas and Melissa Snyder; the following brothers and sisters: Herbert Hansen and his wife, Gloria, of Brayton; Lyle Hansen and his wife, Lois, of Denison; Larry Hansen and his wife, Leona, of Manning; Helen and her husband, Glen Mading, of Elgin, Illinois; and Marjorie and her husband, Bob Wade, of Mesa, Arizona; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
