Following the death of her husband in 1984 Selma continued to live there until January of 1990 when she moved into her home in Manning.
Selma was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women, and the Esther Circle, as well as the Tri County Social Club. Her family was of the utmost importance to her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Marlin Edward, as an infant in 1945 and Wayne Wesley in 1972; one great-granddaughter; and a brother, Arno Miller.
