Selma (Mrs. Herbert) Schade of Gardner, North Dakota, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Charles Barten, was taken seriously ill Monday afternoon, at four o'clock. She was taken with intense pain and shock and became very pale. She kept sinking and sinking, the doctors decided that she would bleed to death unless the hemorrhage was stopped. She was opened and the blood vessel tied, but she had lost so much blood she was unable to recover. The operation was performed at 5:20 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.
Mrs. Schade is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Derner. She was born April 30, 1896, and died February 3, 1925. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the M.E. Church. Reverend Harry Coats having charge.

Mrs. Herbert Schade was born in Carroll County, Iowa, April 30, 1896. Her early
life and youth were spent in the parental home. On January 20, 1920, she became
the wife of Herbert Schade. This happy couple settled down to life on the farm.
They farmed in Iowa for one year and then moved to North Dakota where they lived and worked the past four years.
They were blessed with a baby boy, Clifford. He is now three years old. Mr. and Mrs. Schade had been visiting relatives of Iowa and Illinois and had been in the vicinity of Manning for the past month.
The deceased had enjoyed good health all her life, but last Monday she became violently sick, suffering from a bursted blood vessel. She was rushed to the hospital but she had lost so much blood that her life was soon despaired of. She passed away on Tuesday evening, February 3 at the age of 28 years, 9 months, and 4 days.
She leaves to mourn her death, husband and her father and mother, Mrs. and Mrs. H.H. Derner; six sisters, Mrs. George Boock, Clinton, Iowa; Mrs. John Lempfert, Chicago, Illinois; Mrs. Charles Barten, Manning, Iowa; Mrs. Lyman Willett, Detroit, Michigan; Mrs. Sam Pacholke, Fargo, North Dakota; Mrs. Ralph Mooney, Davenport, Iowa; and two brothers, Herman and Johnny Derner of Manning.
Services were held in the Methodist Church on Friday at 2 p.m., conducted by the Reverend Harry Coates, after which the remains were laid to rest in the local cemetery.
The relatives and friends from out of town who came to attend the funeral of Mrs. Schade are Mrs. Sam Pacholke of Argusville, North Dakota; Mrs. and Mrs. Ralph Mooney of Davenport, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. George Boock of Clinton, Iowa; Mrs. Laura Lempfert of Chicago, Illinois; Mrs. L.W. Willet of Detroit, Michigan; Mr. and Mrs. H. Schade, Jr., of Des Moines, Iowa; George Schade of Aspinwall, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. H Derner of Rock Island, Illinois, who will take the three-year-old grandchild with them when they return home.
