In Loving Memory of Scott Stripling
A service in Scott's memory will be held on Saturday, September 13th, 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, followed by a fellowship luncheon served in Zion's church fellowship hall.
Scott Alan Stripling was born on March 10, 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa, to Ken and Gerry (nee: Gregory) Stripling. He attended school for two years in Newell, Iowa, after which his family moved to Manning, Iowa. Scott graduated from Manning High School in 1978. Following high school he attended and graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.
Following his graduation from Morningside College he also attended and received his certification from the Aviation Academy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Following graduation he worked as an air traffic controller in Houston, Texas.
It wasn't long before Scott began to suffer from health problems. He returned to college, attending the University of Iowa where he earned two Masters Degrees. He then joined the Veterans Administration Hospital System as a Health Care Specialist.
Scott was an avid reader and student of the Bible, and enjoyed learning and committing many passages to memory. He was baptized into Christ as an infant and confirmed his faith in Christ on June 2, 1974 at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa.
On June 1, 2004 he was united in marriage to Amy Tran.
Scott passed away on August 29, 2008 in Alexandria, Virginia, where, he had resided since joining the Veterans Administration. He leaves behind his wife Amy, brother Steve, parents Ken and Gerry Stripling, many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends to cherish his memory.
