Funeral services for Rudolph Opperman were held Saturday, June 25, 1983, 10:30 a.m. at Ohde Funeral Home, Manning. The Rev. Dennis Johnson of the First Presbyterian Church in Manning officiated. Connie Siepker was organist and Ray Pratt was vocalist.

Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Ivan Opperman, Bill Opperman, Lloyd Thede, Arlo Ranniger, Dave Schroeder and Duane Karsten as casketbearers. Ohde Funeral Home, Manning, was in charge of arrangements.

Rudolph, son of William and Margaret Karsten Opperman, was born April 30, 1898, near Manning, in Crawford County, Iowa. He attended rural schools near his home. Rudy was a farmer all his life. He lived on the family farm with his parents and later on the same farm with his nephew, Harold Schmidt and his wife Gladys. and their family.

Rudy died Thursday, June 23, 1983, at the Manning General Hospital, Manning, Iowa, at the age of 85 years. 1 month, 3 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Emil Opperman, and 1 sister, Mamie, Mrs. Henry Schmidt.

He is survived by 1 sister, Lena, Mrs. Ferd Ranniger, Carroll, many nieces and nephews, including those who grew up on the farm where he lived his entire life: Harold and Gladys Schmidt and their family, Richard, Bonnie, Michael and Robert, Manning, Glen Schmidt, Columbus, Ohio, Ruth, Mrs. Allan Eich, Woodbine, Iowa, other relatives and friends.
