Ruby Mae (Dammann) Vinke - Ms. Ruby
Ruby passed away peacefully June 18, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones after a short battle with illness.

Ruby was born January 28, 1946, on the farm in rural Iowa to William "Bid" and Arla (Lohrmann) Dammann, just a few miles northwest of Manning, where she attended Iowa No. 2 country school, and her feistiness was evident from the start in her piercing blue eyes. We delighted in stories of her trudging the dirt road to primary school, riding the horses bareback and getting into trouble for terrorizing the cows.

After graduating from Manning High School in 1964, and a short stint in Omaha to dabble in nursing, she married the love of her life, Allen Vinke on June 4, 1965. Their son Jeff came a year later and their daughter Stacey just three years after that.

In the summer of 72 they moved their happy family to Raytown, where Ruby eventually began her work as the best lunch lady to ever be. She devoted 38 years of her life to the Raytown School District, touching countless people with her kindness, wit, and compassion. Even after retiring, she continued to be an important part of the RSHS family. She loved going to sporting events, plays, and activities. The students and staff were a second family.

Ruby was fiercely passionate about her family, especially her grandkids. She loved Chiefs football and her fur babies. She loved her ice cream, game shows and chicken sandwiches. She was the definition of an amazing human being, who would take care of anyone that needed anything.

Ruby is survived by her son, Jeff Vinke and her daughter, Stacey (Vinke) Green, her daughter-in-law, Jill Vinke, and son-in-law, Tim Green, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one on the way. While she is reuniting with Allen, she is leaving behind numerous family members and friends that will miss her dearly. But we all know she isn’t resting. Dance on, Miss Ruby dance on.

A visitation for Ruby will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
Causal attire, Chiefs and RSHS gear are welcome and encouraged.
