Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruby Schrum will be held Thursday, October 25, 1979 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Donald Jones of the United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Manning Cemetery with grandsons as casketbearers.

The Ohde Funeral Home in Manning is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruby Feye, daughter of Dr. Winford and Elizabeth Addison, was born December 27, 1891, in Minden, Iowa. As a small girl she came to Manning with her family where she attended the school. Following the death of her mother she served as housekeeper for her family and was united in marriage with William F. Schrum January 21, 1914. They lived on a farm north of Manning until 1922 when they came to town. Her husband passed away on March 16, 1963, and Ruby has continued to live in Manning since that time. She passed away suddenly at her Elmcrest apartment in Manning on Sunday evening, October 21, 1979, at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 24 days.

Ruby was a member of the United Methodist Church in Manning, Bible Readers Society, Ladies organization of the church and the Royal Neighbors.

Beside her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, by two sons, Warren and Arthur, by one daughter, Marjorie Joy and one sister, Mrs. Elsie Sprecker.

She is survived by three children: Burton Schrum of Norton, Kansas; Wayne Schrum of Iowa City, Iowa, and Lyle Schrum of West Des Moines; by 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Cecilia Nickum of Lee Summit, Missouri; by two brothers, Mr. Winfred Addison of Corona, California and Fern Addison of Manning, as well as by many other relatives and friends.


Ruby was a resident of Elm Crest from November 1, 1975 - October 31, 1979.

She won the contest to name "Elm Crest" Apartments.
