OBITUARY.
The funeral of Roy L. Zane who died Tuesday, May 13th at Lake City of tumor of the stomach, occurred in Manning Friday last.

Mr. Zane was born in Cass County, Michigan, in 1855 and moved with his parents to Lake City when sixteen years of age. He came to Manning when the town started and worked for the Green Bay Lumber Co. about four years, going from here to Lake City and engaging in railroad work for the C. & N. W. Co. and has been engaged in that line almost continually up to about eight months ago when ill health caused him to retire. Since then he has been on the road for a cigar manufactory. He put up a strong fight against the inroads of disease and only gave up to go to bed Saturday and died the following Tuesday.

Mr. Zane was married twenty-two years ago to Miss Jennie Guild and three children were born to them two daughters and a son. The son preceded him in death and is buried in the Manning Cemetery. He was a good husband and father, a faithful employee and a steadfast friend.

Funeral services were held at Lake City by Rev. Bennett, of the Christian Church, there and the remains brought to Manning on a special, accompanied by about sixty-five members of the Lake City Odd Fellows, members of the trainmen's brotherhood, relatives and friends. At the depot in Manning the funeral party was met by the local Odd Fellow Lodges and escorted to the cemetery. The ritual of the order was followed in the burial services. Rev. Bennett, of Lake City, and Stevenson, of Manning, spoke briefly of the deceased and a life's story was ended.

The deceased was well liked by all who knew him and the sympathy of this community goes out to the bereaved family.

Roy Zane, son of Roy L. & Jennie Zane listed above, is buried in section B, row 26 south to north.
